Performance

Short answer: Published India Google Ads CPC figures disagree widely. Catlist Media cites a ₹24 overall average with finance at ₹60 to ₹200+, while Nico Digital, using Keyword Planner data, lists insurance at ₹310 to ₹460 and B2B SaaS at ₹205 to ₹255. The gap comes from method: planner bid estimates versus averages from live accounts.

Google Ads CPC in India by industry: three sources, three answers, cover

If you search for India Google Ads CPC, you will find confident tables that contradict each other by a factor of five or more. I went through the main ones to see why. The short version: they measure different things. Below are the numbers, the reasons they differ, and how I would use each.

Source 1: Catlist Media (2026), live-account style estimates

Catlist Media's 2026 guide gives an overall India average CPC of about ₹24 across industries. Its industry ranges are: legal ₹80 to ₹250+, finance and insurance ₹60 to ₹200+, real estate ₹40 to ₹150, IT services and SaaS ₹30 to ₹100, healthcare ₹20 to ₹80, education ₹15 to ₹60, local services ₹15 to ₹50, e-commerce ₹10 to ₹40, travel ₹10 to ₹35 and restaurants ₹8 to ₹25. By format it lists search at ₹20 to ₹60, shopping at ₹10 to ₹40, display at ₹5 to ₹15 and YouTube at ₹0.25 to ₹5 per view. The article calls these estimates and does not name a data source or sample, so I treat them as an experienced practitioner's view rather than measured data.

Source 2: OwlClaw (2025 data), agency client averages

OwlClaw Technologies publishes India CPC averages with ranges, citing Google Ads data and its own 2025 client accounts. Its figures: real estate ₹65 (₹40 to ₹120+), finance and insurance ₹45 (₹25 to ₹90), legal ₹38 (₹20 to ₹75), automobile ₹35 (₹18 to ₹70), education ₹28 (₹15 to ₹55), healthcare ₹22 (₹12 to ₹45), SaaS and technology ₹20 (₹12 to ₹42), travel ₹18 (₹10 to ₹40), home services ₹12 (₹7 to ₹25) and e-commerce ₹10 (₹5 to ₹20). It also puts India search CTR at 4.5 to 7%. These broadly agree with Catlist Media on order of magnitude, though Catlist's upper bounds for finance and legal are much higher. Neither publishes sample sizes.

Source 3: Nico Digital (2026), Keyword Planner estimates

Nico Digital's 2026 table is far higher for professional categories. Built from Google Keyword Planner data for broad commercial keywords targeting India, converted at about ₹83.5 to the dollar, it lists insurance at ₹310 to ₹460, education at ₹295 to ₹385, real estate at ₹50 to ₹330, finance and lending at ₹65 to ₹270, B2B SaaS and tech at ₹205 to ₹255, healthcare at ₹95 to ₹210, legal at ₹50 to ₹130, home services at ₹25 to ₹75, travel at ₹14 to ₹30, automotive at ₹8 to ₹25 and e-commerce at ₹3 to ₹20. The gap is mostly method. Keyword Planner shows bid ranges for broad commercial terms, often the expensive top-of-page bids, while the other two sources describe average paid CPC across whole accounts, which includes cheaper long-tail and brand clicks. Neither is wrong. They answer different questions.

How to read the disagreement

Put side by side, the sources roughly agree on the order: insurance, finance, legal, real estate and B2B software at the expensive end, e-commerce, travel and home services at the cheap end. They disagree on level, sometimes by more than five times for education and SaaS. I would not average them. If you are pricing a few head terms like 'business loan' or 'CRM software', the Keyword Planner style figures are closer to what you will face in the auction. If you are forecasting a mature account's blended CPC, the account-average figures are closer. Your own Keyword Planner export for your exact terms and cities beats all three, and it is free. CPC alone also says little. A ₹250 click that converts at a high rate can be cheaper per customer than a ₹20 click that never does. Use the PPC click volume predictor to turn a CPC into expected clicks for your budget, then the CPL calculator to see what lead cost that implies.

FAQ

Catlist Media cites about ₹24 across industries in 2026. That is a blended estimate without a disclosed source. Planner-based figures for competitive commercial keywords run much higher, so check your own keywords.

All three sources place insurance, finance, legal and real estate near the top. Nico Digital also puts education and B2B SaaS high, at ₹295 to ₹385 and ₹205 to ₹255.

Some use Keyword Planner bid estimates for broad commercial terms, others report averages from live accounts that include cheap long-tail clicks. Year, sample and currency conversion also differ.
