Data Enrichment Value Predictor
Compare hours lost to manual research against an enrichment tool.
Reps burn 139 hours/month ($6,928) hand-researching leads. Automated enrichment nets ~$5,728/month back, and that time converts to selling, not just savings.
The real upside is redeployed selling time and better data quality, not just the hourly saving, treat this as the floor of the benefit.
About this calculator
Reps hand-researching lead data, checking company size, finding the right contact, verifying an email, is one of the most invisible cost centers in a sales org because it never shows up as a line item, only as time not spent selling. This calculator prices that manual research time against what an enrichment tool subscription costs, so the tooling decision is a real ROI comparison instead of a gut call.
How to use it
- Enter reps doing manual research, leads each researches per week, and minutes spent per lead doing it manually.
- Enter fully-loaded hourly cost per rep and the monthly cost of an enrichment tool you're evaluating.
- Read research hours per month across the team, the manual research cost that represents, net monthly savings versus the tool, and ROI on the tool as a percentage.
Methodology
Weekly research hours is (reps × leads per week × minutes per lead) ÷ 60. Monthly hours multiplies that by 4.33, the average number of weeks in a month.
Manual research cost is monthly hours × fully-loaded hourly cost, what the team's current manual process actually costs today. Net monthly savings is manual cost minus the enrichment tool's monthly cost.
ROI on the tool is net savings ÷ tool cost, as a percentage, showing the return per dollar spent on the subscription rather than just the raw dollar savings.
This is presented as the floor of the benefit, not the ceiling, the calculation only counts hourly cost recovered. It doesn't value the fact that the freed hours convert to actual selling time (which typically has a higher return than its hourly cost alone) or that automated enrichment tends to be more accurate and consistent than manual lookup.
FAQ
At low research volume, a broad enrichment subscription may genuinely not be worth it yet, the calculator will show a negative or marginal net savings in that case. Consider enriching only your highest-priority segments rather than the full lead flow, or revisit the decision once volume grows.
Time a rep doing a realistic, full manual lookup, company size, correct contact, verified email, any firmographic details used for qualification, not a quick guess. Five to ten minutes per lead is a common range depending on how thorough the manual process is.
No, it only compares time cost. Manual research is also more error-prone and inconsistent across reps than an automated enrichment source, which is a real benefit not captured in this calculator's dollar figure, factor it in qualitatively when making the final call.
